Weddings at Six Senses Resort Ninh Van Bay, Vietnam

8th of March 2023

Six Senses Resort Ninh Van Bay offers a classic setting for a wedding in Vietnam with a sandy beach, a rugged mountain coastline and stunning views.

Getting there

From Nha Trang's Cam Ranh airport it's an hour by car to the resort's welcome centre and another 20 minutes by speedboat. Arrive in the morning for a smooth ride across the smooth waters of the bay or in the afternoon for a more exciting ride when the clouds tend to roll in and the winds pick up.

The resort is in a south-facing sandy bay surrounded by steep rocky mountains. It's easy to imagine you are on an island as this part of the peninsula can only be accessed by boat.

You'll be assigned a Guest Experience Maker (GEM) for your stay who will take care of all your needs, from checking you in, showing you the resort and unpacking your bags, to finding you a shady place for a sunset drink and suggesting dishes to try in the restaurant.

The accommodation

There are 59 villas to choose from, each with a private pool and outdoor seating area, indoor and outdoor showers and huge wooden bath tub, as well as several areas to relax.

The 1 and 2 bedroom Beach Villas lining the bay all have direct access to the beach. The Rock Retreat Villas share the west end of the bay with huge granite boulders. They have the best of the cooling sea breeze and the morning sun as well as the more dramatic seas on windy afternoons. They can only be accessed by stone steps and narrow paths through the boulders. The Water Retreat Villas at the opposite end of the bay enjoy sheltered waters and have ladders from the deck straight into the ocean. The Hill Retreat Villas, with three bedrooms, have great views across the bay and the most secluded locations.

Every villa comes with bicycles with your personalised hand carved name plates so you can easily get around on the resorts shaded sandy tracks. Alternatively, call your GEM for a golf buggy at any time of the day or night.

The resort is a popular choice for weddings from 6 to 120 guests. As brief rain showers aren't uncommon in the late afternoon, each wedding venue at the resort has a wet weather alternative.

The most popular option is on the beach on either side of the dock. The reception can be on the beach or in the jetty bar, restaurant or pavilion behind. Although these areas remain open to other guests the staff use discreet flower barriers to separate an area for your guests. For weddings of around 70 guests staying in the beach villas behind, a central area of the beach can be privatised for the ceremony followed by a drinks reception and beach barbecue as the sun sets.

For small weddings, you can't beat the three bedroom Hill Retreat villa which sleeps up to 8 guests in 3 bedrooms. It has a huge central indoor and outdoor living area with views across the bay. There is a fully equipped kitchen where staff can cater for your guests without ever needing to leave the villa. A unique feature of this villa is a huge screen that can be erected on the deck in the evening to watch a movie under the stars.

The Rock Retreat area of the resort can be privatised for wedding parties of 6 to 30 guests ceremony guests staying in the two-bedroom villa in this part of the resort. For small groups, there is an option of holding the ceremony on the huge teak deck of one of the two bedroom villas, surrounded by huge boulders and with the sea just below. Guests can arrive via a rocky path or by speedboat to the villa's private pier.

For the best views and the most stunning aisle, opt for the Dining by the Rocks restaurant. The restaurant is high above the Rock villas and accessed by over 100 stone steps.

Again, you'd need to buy out all villas in the Rock Villa area and some Hill top villas of the bay in order to have a celebration here. The indoor pavilion has a glass aisle with water running over smooth pebbles below before flowing over the edge and form a water feature as a backdrop for the alfresco dining area below. The wedding ceremony can be held on the open air terrace at the end of the air conditioned pavilion, with the reception on the stunning viewing platform below.

Facilities

The beautiful Dining by the Bay restaurant offers dining for up to 120 guests. This is perfect if you have taken over the entire resort for your wedding.

There is a glass fronted function room for up to 70 guests below the restaurant with great views and total air-conditioned comfort in hotter months.

For pre-wedding pampering, the Six Senses Spa is set in the hills behind the resort. The spa features male and female steam rooms and saunas as well as treatment rooms with views into the forest.

For those feeling energetic, the activity centre can lend you shoes for an early morning hike into the mountains. You can also hire paddle boards and catamarans to take into the bay. Fancy snorkelling? Hire gear to explore the coral reef just a few meters from the shore.

The chef offers regular cooking classes in a shady pavilion close to the fruit and vegetable gardens. You'll be able pick your ingredients before preparing a tasty dish. The bar staff can also arrange cocktail-making classes using local ingredients.

Most guests stay for 3-4 nights for total relaxation but there is no minimum stay.
