Can I Legally get Married in Tanzania?

If you're thinking of getting married in Tanzania, then fear not, it is very simple to do so. Follow these steps:
- There are no residency requirements to get married in Tanzania. Take the documents listed below to the Registrar of Marriages to obtain a marriage licence.

- is part of the Commonwealth you will not need a Certificate of No Impediment but instead just a No Trace Letter from the General Register Office which can be accessed here https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/
- Your intent to marry must be posted for 21 days before exchanging your vows. If you want to save time you can apply for a Special Marriage Licence from the Registrar of Marriages, which must be notarised by a lawyer and returned to the Registrar.
- Once you have your licence, the date of your wedding must be arranged with the District Commissioner's office or the church where you will get married.

- Decree of absolute (if previously divorced)
