With some of the greatest architecture across the globe, including one of the seven wonders of the world, India has so much to offer to travellers visiting the country. We've compiled a list of the top 5 things to do in India during your stay.

Taj Mahal

Top tip: Aim to get to the Taj Mahal at around 6am to avoid the huge crowds of tourists. Stay: The Gateway Hotel

The Delhi Markets

For a spot of shopping and to immerse yourself in Indian culture, head to the bustling Delhi markets. As you wind your way around the labyrinthine streets you'll find everything from fabric to jewellery, to spices and electronics. Chandni Chowk is a good place to start - just watch out for the rickshaws! Top tip: Private tour guides can be hired and come highly recommended to navigate you around the markets and find you the best deals. Stay: ITC Maurya

Wonderla Amusement Parks

For thrill-seekers visiting the country, a trip to one of India's amusement parks is a must. The Bangalore destination is full of rollercoasters and water rides galore, perfect for a fun day out. They also have parks in Hyderabad and Kochi if you're staying closer to those areas. Make sure you note the dress code available on their website for health and safety. Roots Bridge, Meghalaya

An amazing creation of nature, these bridges have formed from the roots of the trees around them. Surrounded by peaceful greenery and flowing waterfalls, the Roots Bridges look like a portal to another world. Spend a few hours exploring and relaxing away from the madness of the main cities. Top tip: Note that there are uneven steps leading down to the bridges so make sure you are wearing suitable footwear.

The Tea Gardens, Munnar

For romance in a way you perhaps weren't expecting, a visit to the Tea Gardens is highly recommended. Sample some of the infamous Munnar tea and watch the Woli ladies picking the tea leaves from the rolling hills surrounding you. Top tip: Early morning visits, especially during monsoon season, leave the hill shrouded in a layer of mist, which makes for the most spectacular views.
