A Taste of Italy: Day 3 - Parma

8th of March 2023

Day 3 of our trip to Italy took us to the pretty town of Parma, a region famed for it's Prosciutto ham and Parmesan cheese! We were presented with the opportunity to see how the famous San Pietro Prosciutto is produced.

Created from just raw pork, sea salt, air, and the most crucial element - time - it can take up to 30 months to see the delicious ham we taste today. Over 450,000 huge hams are produced every year, each with a value of around £1500. Why not consider these delicious delicacies in your wedding menu?

We also headed out into the countryside to Serego Alighieri, home of Mari wines, where poet Dante Alighieri's direct ancestors still run a world famous winery.
We saw bamboo trays of grapes gently drying in airy lofts before fermentation and tasted wine straight from the cherry oak barrels to compare with the more mature vintages.
The winery enjoys sweeping views across the region and well as guest accommodation. Wedding celebrations can take place in the large rustic courtyard, suitable for marquees, whilst the glass fronted barn is perfect for an Italian countryside wedding.
Tomorrow we will be in the beautiful coastal region of Portofino staying at the Belmond's Hotel Splendido, where we'll explore one of Italy's most spectacular venues for large weddings.
