Spring Restaurant:

Somerset House has been one of London’s great cultural addresses since the 18th century. Spring occupies the New Wing. It is a Grade I listed space of high ceilings, generous windows and carefully considered interiors that feel elegant without formality. The restaurant opened in 2014 as the first solo venture of the late Skye Gyngell. She was one of Britain’s most influential chefs. Her philosophy of ingredient-led, seasonal cooking and deep respect for producers shaped everything Spring represents. That philosophy continues to guide the kitchen today. As a result, it is as present in a wedding menu as it is in the daily service.

For couples who want their wedding day defined by exceptional food in a beautiful room, Spring offers something that most London wedding venues cannot. It is also a genuinely different kind of celebration. The space is a working restaurant of real distinction, not a hotel event room or a converted ballroom. Therefore, the atmosphere is warmer and more personal than many formal venues, and the food is the reason people choose it.

The Dining Rooms

The Main Dining Room is the principal wedding space. It holds up to 116 guests. It brings together natural light, high ceilings and architectural detail of the Somerset House New Wing. In addition, a separate area for drinks receptions and dancing means the celebration moves naturally through the evening rather than staying in one configuration throughout.

The Garden accommodates up to 36 guests. It suits smaller, more intimate weddings or private dinners. It offers a quieter, more contained setting within the same building.

Together, these spaces make Spring well suited to weddings from around 20 guests up to 116. The format shapes itself around the couple’s priorities rather than a fixed package.

The Food

Cooking at Spring is produce-led and seasonal. Menus draw on the finest available ingredients, prepared with care and a lightness of touch that reflects the restaurant’s ethos. For weddings, the events team works with couples to develop a menu that reflects the season and the style of celebration. This is not a standard wedding breakfast menu offered to every booking. In addition, Spring offers bespoke cake design for weddings, which gives couples a further element that can be tailored specifically to them.

Spring was listed in the Estrella Damm Top 100 National Restaurant Awards, which reflects the standard of cooking that forms the foundation of every wedding event at the restaurant.

Is Spring Restaurant Right for Your Wedding?

Spring suits couples planning a London wedding where food quality and atmosphere are the central priorities. The Somerset House setting, the calibre of the cooking and the intimate scale of the spaces make it a particularly strong choice for couples who want something more considered and less corporate than a hotel ballroom. Moreover, it works well for guests who appreciate dining as an experience in its own right rather than a backdrop to the event.

However, it is not the right choice for couples wanting a large wedding above 116 guests, a venue with on-site accommodation, or a formal ballroom-style space. Spring is also a working restaurant, so wedding availability depends on the restaurant’s operational schedule. The events team can confirm available dates on enquiry.
