Haymarket Hotel:

Housed in a landmark Regency building designed by John Nash, the architect behind Buckingham Palace and much of Regent Street, Haymarket Hotel sits at the heart of London’s theatre district. It is next door to His Majesty’s Theatre Royal, three minutes from Piccadilly Circus and a short walk from Trafalgar Square. The hotel holds Michelin 2 Keys for 2025 and is one of the more distinctive boutique hotel wedding venues in the West End. Every one of its 53 bedrooms and suites is individually designed by Kit Kemp, whose use of bold colour, pattern and contemporary art gives the interiors a character that sets it apart from most central London hotel spaces.

The standout feature for weddings is below ground level. The 55-foot underground swimming pool is stone-edged, surrounded by mature oak trees and topped with a ceiling covered in hundreds of fibre optic lights. It holds up to 220 for a standing reception and up to 160 for poolside dining. It can be dressed with floating candles for the dinner and covered over for dancing later in the evening. The hotel lobby features a large stainless steel sculpture by Tony Cragg, which gives the building an art-world quality from the moment guests arrive.

The Wedding Spaces

The Swimming Pool and Bar is the most distinctive private event space available at any boutique hotel in the West End. The pewter bar and fibre optic ceiling give it a dramatic atmosphere that suits both a seated wedding breakfast beside the water and an evening reception on the dance floor on top of it. As a result, couples can use the same space across the full day without guests needing to move between rooms.

The Shooting Gallery is lined with de Gournay hand-painted wallpaper throughout. It suits smaller wedding breakfasts and pre-wedding private dining where the room’s refinement is part of the occasion. In particular, it works well as part of a wedding weekend programme alongside the main pool celebration.

The Rocklin Room and the Nash Room are the smaller private dining spaces. Together they suit rehearsal dinners, post-wedding brunches and more relaxed gatherings across a wedding stay. The full range of spaces covers events from around 12 guests up to 220, all within the same building.

The Townhouse and Bedrooms

The hotel has 53 individually designed bedrooms and suites. No two rooms are the same, which reflects Kit Kemp’s approach to design throughout the building. For larger wedding parties, interconnecting room options are available across several room categories.

The Townhouse is a four-floor private residence with its own latch-key entrance on a quiet side street. It has two to five bedrooms, a drawing room with floor-to-ceiling windows, a fully equipped kitchen and a dining room. In addition, it has direct access into the hotel, so the party staying there retains full use of all hotel services while having a self-contained space for the duration of the stay.

Dining and Facilities

Brumus Bar and Restaurant offers seasonal British menus in a light-flooded brasserie with intimate booths and banquette seating. It suits welcome dinners, pre-wedding lunches and post-wedding brunches throughout a wedding stay.

In-house guests have access to the Library with its Honesty Bar, the Conservatory and the First Floor Terrace overlooking Suffolk Place. Treatment rooms are available for pre-wedding preparations and the gym is open throughout any stay.

Is Haymarket Hotel Right for Your Wedding?

Haymarket Hotel suits couples planning a London wedding where design, atmosphere and a genuinely unusual event space are the priorities. The underground pool, the de Gournay Shooting Gallery, the Michelin 2 Keys recognition and the Kit Kemp interiors make it one of the more distinctive boutique hotel wedding venues in central London. In addition, the West End location puts Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square and the theatre district within a few minutes on foot for guests throughout the stay.

However, it is not suited to couples wanting a traditional grand ballroom, a formal ceremony space or a wedding above 220 guests. Civil ceremony licensing should be confirmed directly with the events team before booking. As a working boutique hotel, event availability is subject to wider occupancy.
