Soneva Fushi is a beautiful private desert island, home to luxurious villas hidden among the lush foliage. With crystal clear waters and pristine white sands, and just a 30-minute seaplane journey from Malé International airport, it’s the perfect place to tie the knot.

The Best Time of Year for Weddings in The Maldives

The Maldives is lucky enough to have great weather year-round, with an average temperature of 30°C (86°F). The best time of year for a Maldivian wedding is during the dry season, between November and April. You can expect clear skies, tropical sunshine, and light sea breezes. The Monsoon season, between May and October, is the wettest time of the year, with sunshine, showers, and occasional tropical storms. However, Monsoon season is the best time to see an abundance of aquatic sea life, such as manta rays.

The Accommodation

Guests are spoilt for choice, with spacious villas on both the sunset and sunrise-facing sides of the island. The 61 villas range in size from one to nine bedrooms. The resort has the flexibility to cater to all requests, whether your guests would like to stay together in a large private residence, or would prefer to stay separately at a selection of smaller villas.

All villas feature high ceilings and deep beds made with sustainable materials, and beautiful views of the Indian Ocean. Many villas also have their own private pools, with the larger villas showcasing water slides, private gyms, wine cellars and more!

A personal butler service is available to all guests. Complimentary WiFi is available all around the resort, so you can choose to stay connected, or switch off completely and enjoy the well-deserved escape.

Your Wedding at Soneva Fushi

With a variety of ceremony and reception options, you’ll be sure to have the wedding of your dreams! Soneva’s wedding coordinators will take care of the smallest details, while their bespoke wedding packages offer an unforgettable experience for you and your guests. For those who prefer privacy, you can opt to buy-out the entire island and resort!

A private sandbank ceremony offers plenty of space for both intimate ceremonies as well as larger groups. Arrive by traditional Maldivian dhow, and step onto the warm, sandy shore. Surrounded by gentle lapping waves, you can say your vows in complete paradise.

For those wishing to have an intimate, evening ceremony; a private villa garden ceremony is perfect. Lit by hundreds of glowing lanterns and flickering candles, the beachfront garden transforms into a romantic haven for you and your loved ones.

If you fancy something a bit more adventurous, why not consider having an underwater scuba ceremony? Sail out into the clear, turquoise waters and submerge yourselves into an aquatic paradise. You’ll follow the ceremony through a waterproof audio player, with complete seclusion from the outside world.

You’ll have an unforgettable dining experience at Soneva Fushi. With 10 restaurants and bars to choose from, you’ll have the option of both indoor and outdoor seating, and a wide selection of the freshest world dishes. Most dietary requirements are catered for, including vegan, dairy and gluten-free, so you and your guests can enjoy the day without worry.

Tuck into a sumptuous banquet on your private sandbank, surrounded by the warm glow of flickering lanterns. Or perhaps you’d prefer to be nestled high in the banana tree canopy, with stunning panoramic views of the resort. For the more adventurous, the Jungle Dinner offers an exciting alternative to a traditional wedding banquet. Blindfolded and transported to a secret jungle location, you and your guests will be taken on an exquisite culinary journey, surrounded by lush green foliage.

After your meal, lounge under the stars at Soneva’s open-air cinema with a specially prepared video or photo montage. Set the mood with a choice of local and international musicians, and slow dance the night away. With a private stargazing experience, you two can sneak away to the resort’s observatory and experience the beauty of the stars from the midst of the ocean.

Activities for You and Your Guests

The resort has everything you could ever want, including a fully-equipped gym, tennis courts, and a variety of non-motorised watersports, such as paddle boarding, catamaran sailing, windsurfing, and canoeing.

Unwind at the Six Senses Spa, or indulge yourself in the So Guilty chocolate room and So Guilty ice cream parlour. Enjoy regular movie screenings at Cinema Paradiso, the widest screen in the Maldives, with complimentary gourmet popcorn and ice-cream.

Stargaze at the island’s observatory, or watch a glass-blowing demonstration with cocktails at the Glass Studio. You can’t visit the Maldives without exploring the nearby coral reef, so take up a free-diving course from the diving centre. Younger guests can explore The Den - a dedicated kids’ zone, which includes its own cinema, library, music rooms, dress-up area, and Lego room.
