Clevedon Hall:
Set in 2.5 acres of private grounds in North Somerset, this Jacobean-style manor house has been hosting weddings for over 16 years. The property is available for exclusive use, so the house, the grounds and the full team focus on one wedding at a time. With eight named spaces across the building, a hand-crafted gazebo in the gardens and a private lake, it gives couples both the freedom and the setting to create a day that is entirely their own.
The Principal Spaces
The Great Hall is the heart of the house. It has an 18th century-style galleried balcony and original architecture throughout. It holds up to 250 for an evening reception and up to 130 for a ceremony. Live bands and DJs work well here, and the room carries celebrations comfortably into the night.
The Grand Library sits alongside the Great Hall. It holds up to 130 for both ceremony and dining. Dark wood panelling lines the walls, a 5-metre integrated screen sits at one end and air conditioning runs throughout. It suits couples who want a more intimate, enclosed atmosphere for the wedding breakfast.
The Orangery is located at the back of the house and is one of the most popular spaces in the building. Bi-fold doors open directly onto the garden patio, underfloor heating keeps it warm through winter, air conditioning keeps it comfortable in summer and natural light fills it throughout the day. It holds up to 150 for a ceremony or seated dining. In addition, it is the only space in the building suitable for an indoor mandap ceremony.
The Intimate Spaces
The Dame Rosa Burden is a bright, double-aspect room with curved bay windows looking over the gardens and lake. It holds up to 70 guests for a ceremony and 50 for dining. As a result, it works particularly well for pre-wedding family dinners, morning preparations and smaller gatherings within a multi-day celebration.
The Conrad has original wood panelling and a warm lounge atmosphere. It works as a quiet lounge, a prayer room or a children’s play room during the main event. The Conservatory holds up to 30 guests for private dining or an intimate ceremony, with views over the garden and hebe fountain. The Snug and the Oak Room are the two smallest rooms, used as supplier breakout spaces and storage during the day.
The Grounds
The garden gazebo is one of the most distinctive elements of a Clevedon Hall wedding. Hand-crafted and set within the grounds, it holds up to 150 guests on the surrounding terrace and suits outdoor ceremonies with a winding path entrance through the gardens. The wider estate includes a private lake, sweeping lawns, a fountain and a lavender-lined drive that provides a strong backdrop for photography throughout the year.
For larger celebrations, the South Lawn can accommodate a hired marquee, extending capacity to 300 guests for a seated wedding breakfast. Fireworks are also permitted through the venue’s preferred supplier.
Multicultural Weddings
Clevedon Hall has considerable experience hosting multicultural celebrations. The Orangery is licensed for an indoor mandap, making it a practical choice for Hindu weddings. In addition, the Dame Rosa Burden suits Jewish Tisch ceremonies and the Conrad works well as a prayer room or cultural ceremony space throughout the day.
Dry Hire and Catering
For couples who want to bring their own caterers, a dry hire option is available from £10,000. This gives exclusive access to the full property from 11am. It also includes a wedding coordinator, duty manager, nights manager, the Cottage for up to 8 guests the night before, all tables and chairs, Chiavari chairs, a canopy of fairy lights, dancefloor, PA system and onsite parking. In low season, 15 bedrooms with breakfast are included. In high season, this rises to 25. A list of approved caterers covering Kosher, Indian and Asian, and general catering is available on request.
For couples who prefer the in-house team, the kitchen creates bespoke menus using locally sourced ingredients. The team also runs tasting sessions during the planning process and caters for all dietary requirements including fusion menus.
Accommodation
The hall has 25 individually designed bedrooms, each with its own character and en-suite bathroom. Together they accommodate up to 65 guests overnight. Family rooms are available for larger groups. The private Cottage in the grounds sleeps up to 8 guests and is available from the night before the wedding, giving the couple and their closest family a self-contained space at the start of the celebration. The hall is fully accessible, with a lift and one accessible bedroom. Dogs are welcome throughout.
