Without losing its soul, the quiet guardian of Sardinia’s south coast opens its doors and is reborn as an exclusive Guest House and 5 Star Hotel. Reliable and familiar, the lantern comes on every evening, as it has done for the past 160 years. Originally built in 1854 it was the first example of military architecture in Italy that was intended for hospitality as it used to house the lighthouse workers. The restoration of the Lighthouse was a respectful project that radically transformed the building's purpose of use, while carefully preserving its historical value in a location that belongs to the community. Environment, architecture and hospitality come together using only locally sourced materials and following the principles of sustainable building. The result harmoniously blends in with the environment. During the day the Lighthouse dominates the natural surroundings, at night it shines in all its beauty. At the front of the building, overlooking the sea, a raised teak deck features an infinity swimming pool with two Jacuzzis. A large terrace surrounds the lantern, offering guests 360° views of the coast and the surrounding hills. An impressive olive tree, which is centuries old, sits at the centre of modern crystal gazebos.
